How to Deploy Your AI Assistant

A step-by-step walkthrough from zero to a fully working AI assistant. No technical background required. Total time: under 10 minutes.

Deployment Walkthrough

Follow these steps in order

1

Get Your AI Model API Key

Before deploying, you need an API key from Anthropic (for Claude) or OpenAI (for GPT). Visit anthropic.com or openai.com, create an account, and generate an API key. This takes about 2 minutes. Keep the key somewhere safe; you will need it in the next step.

2

Create Your RunTheAgents Account

Visit RunTheAgents.com and sign up with your email address. Standard account creation with email verification.

3

Enter Your API Key and Deploy

In your dashboard, enter the API key you obtained in step 1. Select your preferred AI model. Click deploy. Your managed OpenClaw instance begins provisioning and will be ready in about 60 seconds.

4

Connect Your First Messaging Channel

Choose which messaging platform to connect first (WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, or Slack). Follow the guided setup for your chosen channel. Most channels connect in under 5 minutes.

5

Send Your First Message

Open your connected messaging app and send a message to your AI assistant. Try something simple like 'Hello, what can you help me with?' Verify it responds correctly.

What Happens After Deployment

Your AI assistant is now live and ready to work. But deployment is just the beginning. The real value comes from configuring it for your specific needs.

Spend some time chatting with your assistant to understand its capabilities. Ask it to browse a website. Have it research a topic. Test its responses to the types of questions your clients or team members typically ask.

Then start refining. Give it instructions about your preferred communication style, your business context, and the types of tasks you want it to prioritize. The more context you provide, the more useful it becomes.

First Week Recommendations

Day 1-2: Explore Capabilities

Send various types of requests to understand what your assistant can do. Try web research, scheduling, question answering, and browser automation. Note what works well and what needs refinement.

Day 3-4: Configure for Your Use Case

Based on your exploration, write clear instructions for your assistant. Define your preferred tone, the types of tasks it should handle, and how it should escalate things it cannot handle.

Day 5-7: Connect Additional Channels

Add your other messaging platforms. If you started with WhatsApp, add Slack for team communication. Each new channel expands your assistant's reach without additional configuration.

Common First Tasks

Web Research

Ask your assistant to research a topic: 'Research the top 5 project management tools and compare their pricing.' It browses the web, gathers information, and delivers a structured comparison.

Scheduling Help

Tell your assistant about upcoming meetings and deadlines. Ask it to send reminders to relevant people through the connected channels.

Content Drafting

Ask your assistant to draft an email, social media post, or document outline. Provide context about the audience and purpose, and it generates a solid first draft for your review.
